Welcome activities banner
Ensure one teacher is stationed where children are received ensuring they are all signed in. You may want to consider letting the senior class sign themselves in as this replicates primary school. You may want t a senior and junior class side of the welcome table.
Place up large signs:
  1. "Please ensure your children are signed in and out".
  2. Leave church in time to collect your children by e.g. 12:00am  and no later than e.g. 12:15am. Get your pastor onside if church runs over he announces that parents should collect their children. You can cater for a additional activity for a short time, but do not go over this. Have extra activity and food to keep them occupied for this short period - especially if it is near meal time.
  3. Please ensure your children have been to the toilet before church.
Snacks
Making the effort to make snacks not only reinforce the lesson, but they are talked about for weeks to come, including to the children's family and friends. Engage others in the church to prepare snacks that support the lesson. People preparing these must be known to be clean, have a clean kitchen, and use fresh ingredients. Food and food preparation hygiene instructions should be handed out.
Toilet Break, Testimonies & Opening Prayer
When the children have settled in back ready for TPW, ask the children how their week went. Tell them how your week went. Likewise ask for their prayer needs and you give any prayer needs you have. Ask children if they want to pray. Do not make them. Pray for the service.
Thanksgiving praise worship
TPW plans include songs sourced from the internet and where possible link to official channels. Not all churches have the music resources needed and these songs are fun to join in. Seeing young adults perform songs with enthusiasm provide confidence in the senior children who in turn provide confidence in the junior children to praise the Lord with their whole heart.
Four songs are provided in the worship plans. Listen to the Holy Spirit, read the kids, watch the schedule for how many to sing. When putting these together:
  1. The first song is for the junior class with the senior class showing how we are blessed in praising the Lord is.
  2. Songs 2 is a thanksgiving song we proclaim to God and others as a witness.
  3. Song 3 is a praise proclamation song.
  4. Song 4 is always a worship song as we enter the holy of holies.
  5. Please keep reviewing the additional junior songs in the song book as these as these are the songs we remember into our adulthood.
Note we have only included songs where there are lyrics. There are many other children youtube honourable mentions but they did not have lyrics eg Bethel Kids

Key Verses

Key Verses support the main theme of the lesson and the slideshow helps children learn the key verse/s by removing words in each subsequent slides.

Bible Story

Quality Bible videos have been sourced from across the internet that:
  • match the lesson; and
  • are fun where possible.
Click image above to see an overview on D4K's main video producers.

Stories from the Illustrated Bible are included. We encourage you to purchase this book and read to the junior class. When reading to the younger children, DO NOT forget to use expression, actions and get the children to express these back. For example when God breathed life have everyone do this with great expression, or have them pretend to be animals and one of the children naming them.
Lesson craft
Prepare for craft early in week before the day of lesson:
  1. Decide on craft.
  2. Identify and shop for material.
  3. Make a sample craft for children to copy.
  4. Prepare material prior to lesson if the activity requires too much support e.g. cutting out beforehand avoids a long line of bored children lining up for assistance.
We recommend that you hold onto craft and put out for display at joint services with the adults for joint service for Christmas, Easter, Fathers Day and Mothers Day.
*Note if we are putting on a concert we avoid weeks of practising lines for plays, but rather show off the craft and songs. Try using a narrator.
Sequence cards
These cards are used for junior classes and reinforce the Bible Story they have just watched.  The children in this age group do not always take in bible stories the first time.  After you have read the sequence cards in order, scramble them up, the children can have fun putting these in order. We suggest you colour these in and laminate them. You colouring these will encourage the children to colour also.
Extra Activities
Additional activities (usually in the form of colouring in), have been provided that require minimum preparation and support. Use this material when:
  • The craft finishes earlier than expected.
  • Adult service has run overtime and you need to start taking children to the main church in groups. These activities will occupy those waiting to be taken back to the main church.
  • Some children are needing an alternative activity to the planned activity.
Closing Prayer
Closing prayer is undertaken in individual classes. Make sure you provide the opportunity to rotate the closing prayer. Finish off the prayer with what God has laid on your or their heart during lesson preparation.
Course Certificate
Course certificates are passed out at the end of each course.
